Oral Sedation
What is it?
Anxious? Don't worry, we offer oral sedation! If you listen to just
about any radio station these days, you've probably heard advertisers
talking about the benefits of oral sedation dentistry. At Kennedy Dental
Group, we have advanced training in the safe and effective
administration of conscious oral sedation.
A pill before your dental work can make your trip to our office
completely comfortable and anxiety-free and all with little or no memory
of the visit! Conscious sedation dentistry isn't only for anxious, tense
or fearful patients. Oral sedation is also particularly convenience for
those patients with less flexible schedules, as the deep relaxation
reached allows for more comprehensive dental care with fewer office
visits. Patients who have had this unique experience say that hours seem
to fly like minutes and post treatment discomfort is often completely
eliminated.
Ask us about oral sedation dentistry and see if you are a candidate.
What are the benefits?
It allows you to comfortably undergo everything from a simple
cleaning to extensive concerns. One of the additional benefits is that
the medicine has an amnesia quality which for most patients, tends to
prevent almost any memory of the visit.
* Sedation Dentistry
enhances effectiveness of anesthetic. * Sedation Dentistry decreases
gagging. * Sedation Dentistry assist in decreasing joint and muscle
soreness. * Sedation Dentistry allows more treatment to be provided
in a shorter time, which could decrease total number of visits.
How long does it last?
For most patients, the effects last between 2-4 hours, so we require
you to have someone drive you home.
Am I really asleep?
Most patients do tend to fall asleep, however, you can still respond
to verbal commands. Even the most apprehensive patients have been
ecstatic with the results.
Safety
We constantly monitor each patient with a computerized pulse oximeter,
which measures heart rate, blood pressure and oxygen saturation. We also
have a reversal agent on hand that reverses the effect of the medicine
in less than 30 seconds. We are caring for patient's everyday using this safe
comfortable and relaxing oral sedation method. It's a blessing for our
patients. Please call our office to hear what our patients have to say
about sedation dentistry. We are compiling a list everyday of happy,
comfortable, sedation dentistry patients.
